Abstract
This talk explores the ethical challenges and responsibilities associated with the growing use of artificial intelligence in education and engineering. As AI systems increasingly influence learning, assessment, infrastructure, and automation, ensuring their alignment with ethical principles is essential for a sustainable future.
Drawing on the ethical framework promoted by ICESCO and international guidelines for trustworthy AI, the presentation outlines key principles transparency, inclusiveness, human-centered design, and sustainability. Practical examples from educational technologies and engineering systems will illustrate how these principles can be applied to protect human dignity, ensure fairness, and support long-term societal goals.
Biography
Dr. Musab Alrawi is a distinguished academic and researcher specializing in artificial intelligence, robotics, and computer engineering, with expertise in AI ethics, embedded systems, biomedical applications, and robotics design. He currently serves as Director of the ICESCO Research Chair for AI Ethics at the University of Technology and Applied Science, Oman, leading initiatives in ethical AI development, policy creation, capacity building, and fostering international collaboration. Dr. Alrawi has been instrumental in organizing workshops, conferences, and research projects addressing the societal impact of AI. His extensive academic experience includes roles in Turkey, Malaysia, the USA, Korea, Japan, and Kazakhstan, where he has contributed to advancing cutting-edge technologies and education. Recognized as a global thought leader, he actively bridges academia and industry to shape the ethical landscape of AI and emerging technologies.
